Roman Gods

The Romans believed in many gods, who governed human actions. They imagined them as humans, with feelings like ours — love, hate, jealousy, and so on. They even dedicated marvelous temples to them! Many of the gods in Roman mythology come from Greek mythology.


JUPITER(ZEUS)

King of the gods, and ruler of the Earth and the heavens.

JUNO(HERA)

Jupiter’s wife. Goddess of matrimony, protector of Rome, and queen of the gods.

MINERVA(ATHENA)

Goddess of wisdom, the arts, science, trade, and war.

MARS(ARES)

God of war and strength.

MERCURY(HERMES)

Messenger of the gods and god of commerce.

NEPTUNE(POSEIDON)

God of the sea.

DIANA(ARTEMIS)

Goddess of fertility and of the hunt.

APOLLO

God of light and prophecy.

VESTA(HESTIA)

Goddess of the home and hearth.
