Leptons - The Particles Which Are Important As Quarks | Fermion | Elementary Particle

What are Leptons? Leptons are one of the elementary particles which also constitutes an Atom.

Now let's talk about the types of Leptons.
  • Electron
  • Muon
  • Tau
  • Electron Neutrino
  • Muon Neutrino
  • Tau Neutrino
The Electron is the well known particle. It constitutes  an Atom. It also hold up an Atom.
The Muon and Tau are like twins of Electron and are similar to an Electron.
And these particles the Electron, Muon and Tau have a (-1) Charge.
And if we take the Neutrinos, these have (0) Charge. These 3 when came together are extremely smaller than an Electron.

Tau and Muon are heavy particles and are produced by high energy collisions and are produced for only a limited amount of period. This is because these particles decay into lighter particles.

Now when we talk about Neutrinos, these particles react with other particles only through Weak Nuclear Force. These particles go through us every second. Now too, while you are reading.
If we take Electron Neutrinos it reacts with an Electron and so on.

Now the name Muon is so because it came from the Greek letter Î¼ which is spelled as MU, pronounced as Muon. this is just like an Electron but is 207 times heavier than a Electron.

The name Tau is given to the particle because it is the third charged particle.

Now Neutrinos are named so because it is neutral and is extremely small.
