The Positive Side Of Social Media

INTRODUCTION
The debate around the “dangers of social media” and the effects of social media on youth is such a disputed topic. So many people are talking about how social media is damaging youth, how kids are getting “corrupted” by it, and even how it’s tearing down our democracy.

POSITIVE SIDE
All these nuisance and negative gibberish spread like wildfire through the same social media and give rise to a scandal. When we talk about the current world, social media has been unstoppable. The COVID period brought along millions of people on the internet and associated them through social networking websites. YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, you name it. And the wonderful thing about such networking sites is, they do not need any prerequisite internet knowledge which means everyone, yes, everyone can operate social media. In ancient times, students who had doubts or had the curiosity to learn something new had to consult their Guru or parents. But with the uprising of the social media, students today can learn anything they want and get answers to any of their questions. Social media allowed students to even learn certain things before the suitable age to increase the curiosity even more. Poor students who couldn't afford to buy books are now becoming scholars through the gift of social media and online education.

THE DEBATE
Who says social media has only had negative effects on the lives of youth? Negatives and positives are the two sides of the same coin. It only depends on the student or the person who understands the importance of social networking and utilizes it for its benefit. And I think the poor people have got the best sense of utilizing social media when they got its access. Social media not only did break the gap between the poor and the rich but also gave everyone equal opportunities to represent themselves on various platforms and show who they REALLY were.

Social Media Has Been Unfairly Blamed For “Negative Effects” On Society and people think students do nonsense stuff on their phones every day. This could be true to some extent but we should remember, a student learns from mistakes and social media is the best place to learn and implement it in your real life. These behaviors aren’t anyone’s fault. Everyone does dumb stuff when they’re teenagers. It’s just how humans grow. To those who think Social Media is The Only Thing That Causes Addiction, what if a kid who is sitting on Instagram all day right now would otherwise be out in the street breaking the law? What if social media is actually preventing some kids from engaging in bad behavior? We should always try thinking with different unique perspectives instead of blabbering over one incoherent thought of criticizing something.

OPINION
In my opinion, social media has been a great success over the years and it has been able to connect millions of people from some corner of the world. It is definitely not right to say that social media is always destructive, but if one raises his conscience, he would get to know that it is oh-so constructive.
