This is Episode 3 of Death From Space. In our last Episodes: The Great Filter and Vacuum Decay we studied that Aliens and Space itself could destroy us. So Today we are going to see about another Episode where Stars could Destroy Us-"Gamma-Ray Bursts".
Now Gamma Rays are Electromagnetic Waves that carry out energy just like Visible Light. Now a Gamma Ray's Photon is very powerful compared to 10,000x Visible Light's Photon. These are so powerful that they could destroy everything in its way. So, its very harmful for organisms. It could destroy Genetic Codes. So, for us Ozone Protects us.
So, now Scientist saw some Bursts, every Bright, and was very Far. It was Gamma Rays, now it was very powerful because it is Very Bright and these were sometimes 6 Billion Light-Years away. Scientist named it Gamma-Ray Bursts.
There are two types of Gamma-Ray Bursts Small and Big Gamma-Ray Bursts.
Small Gamma-Ray Bursts lasts 1-2 seconds. It comes when 2 Neutron Stars comes together and Collapses due to their Gravity and forms a Black Hole.
Big Gamma-Ray Bursts lasts 1 minute. It comes when a Nova Burst occurs or a Stars Core collapses and forms a Black Hole.
So, in both the cases we get Black Holes. Now the Magnetic Force that gathers Gases around and launches it like Jets in both the directions with Gamma-Rays.
Now this could totally wipe out the Ozone and cook us like Chicken in a Grill. Now this much Gamma will destroy the Ozone and leave us unprotected by other harmful rays. For sure we will die. But it not happen for now, but it may.
