Endocrine System - 2 | Hormones & Its Uses | Exocrine Hormones | Science Specials Week S02 E07

So in our last Endocrine System post we talked about Hormones, Endocrine Glands, Exocrine Glands, Difference between these two and Endocrine Hormones. The Endocrine System - 1 | Hormones .

Now lets recap what and all Hormones we studied!

  • Hypothalamus: GnRH (Gonadotropin Releasing Hormone).
  • Anterior Pituitary: FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone) and LH (Luteinizing Hormone).
  • Thyroid: Thyroxine and Triiodothyronine
  • Parathyroid: Parathyroid Hormone.
  • Adrenal: Adrenaline.
  • Pancreas: Insulin.
  • Ovaries: Oestrogen
  • Corpus Luteum and Adrenal Cortex: Progesterone.
  • Testes: Testosterone.
  • Pineal Gland: Melatonin.
  • ThymusThymopoietin and Thymulin.
  • Mammary Gland: Prolactin.
Now lets see about its uses!

Now the first Hormone
  • GnRH: This Hormone's work is to activate Pituitary Gland.
  • FSH: This Hormone's work is to activate Sex Hormones and it controls Menstrual Cycle in Women.
  • LH: This Hormone also activates Sex Hormones.
  • Thyroxine: This Hormone's work is to develop Brain, controls Muscles and Heart and controls Energy Usage of the body.
  • Triiodothyronine: This Hormone's work is to control metabolic rate, bone development and Controls Muscles.
  • Parathyroid: This Hormone's work is to maintain Calcium and Phosphorus Levels.
  • Adrenaline: This Hormone controls Salt levels and controls FIGHT OR FLIGHT means makes us to fight or run away!
  • Insulin: This Hormones's only important work is to control Sugar levels.
  • Oestrogen: This Hormones's only important work is to activate Ovaries which produces Ova or an Egg.
  • Progesterone: This Hormone's work is to maintain the Ovaries.
  • TestosteroneThis Hormones's only important work is to activate Testes which produces Sperms.
  • Melatonin: This Hormones's only important work is to make us sleepy!
  • Thymopoietin: This Hormone's work is to maintain Youthfulness.
  • Thymulin: This Hormone also do's the same work of Thymopoietin.
  • Prolactin: This Hormone's work is the produce Milk in Women.
Now in the last part we saw about Exocrine Glands. Now we will see the kinds of Hormones secreted by these Glands!
  • Sweet Gland: Sweat
  • Sebaceous Gland: Sebum
  • Salivary Gland: Saliva
  • Lacrimal Gland: Serotonin and Tears
Now do you know Mammary Gland and Pancreas also comes under Exocrine Glands!

Now Sweat and Sebum and one and the same! These Hormones clogs the Hair Follicles causing Pimples! Saliva everyone knows. Lacrimal Gland is just above our Eyes and produces Tears and Serotonin which keeps us Happy!

So, Release Serotonin and Be Happy
~Thank You~
