Hydrolysis

*Hydrolysis is the chemical breakdown of a compound due to the reaction with water.

Now here I am going to give you a few examples of Hydrolysis-

1. C2H3NaO2 + H2O  CH3COOH + Na + OH-

Sodium Acetate + Water  Acetic Acid + Sodium + Hydroxide

---------------------------

2. CH3COOH + H2O  C2H3O-2 + H3O

Acetic Acid + Water  Acetate + Hydronium

--------------------------

3. NH3 + H2O  NH4 + OH-

Ammonia + Water  Ammonium + Hydroxide

-------------------------

Now fact of the day-
Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) Acetylcholinesterase inhibitor used as an insecticide] it is an enzyme that causes rapid Hydrolysis of Acetylcholine. It's action serves to stop excitation of a nerve after transmission of an impulse.

~Thank you!~
I hope you learned something new today!
